Apple Sets Up iTunes Donation Page

Apple has created a page on its iTunes store to allow people to donate money to the American Red Cross which will be used to help victims of Friday's disasters in Japan.

The page states:

"Your gift to the American Red Cross will support our disaster relief efforts to help those affected by the earthquake in Japan and tsunami throughout the Pacific. Your support will enable the Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to victims of all disasters. On those rare occasions when donations exceed American Red Cross expenses for a for a specific disaster, contributions are used to prepare for and serve victims of other disasters."

All of the money donated through the iTunes site will go directly to the Red Cross, with Apple foregoing the usual iTunes transaction fees.
