Evrod Cassimy is the weekday morning anchor for NBC 5 News. He joined NBC 5 in November of 2022.

While originally from Rockford, IL, Cassimy is a Chicagoan, having lived in the city and attended Columbia College Chicago where he graduated with a degree in Television Broadcast Journalism. He first walked into the doors of NBC 5 as an intern under veteran broadcasters and NBC Chicago alums Art Norman and Anna Davlantes.

Now, back home in Chicago, the seven-time Emmy-nominated journalist can be seen on NBC 5 News Monday through Friday from 4-7am and from 8-11am on the NBC Chicago streaming channel.

Cassimy has covered news across the country including Grand Junction and Denver, Colorado, Madison, Wisconsin, Orlando, Florida, Richmond, Virginia and Detroit, MI before returning to Chicago. When he’s not covering the news across the city and suburbs, he’s a singer/songwriter and philanthropist. He has several albums available everywhere and he donates the proceeds from his music to charity. To date, his music has raised more than $200,000 for educational charities and causes important to him.

As a husband and father, he spends his free time with his wife and three children.
