USS Midway Hosts Olympics Opening Ceremony Party

Watch the Olympics Opening Ceremony on a boat

Even though the Olympics Opening Ceremony will be held in London, San Diegans will have to opportunity to watch the event in style.

On July 27, the USS Midway Museum will host a live television broadcast of London Games opening ceremony with two large screens on the ship.

The best part? It's free.

Members of the BMX team USA will be onboard before leaving for London, and attendees will also be able to meet Olympians and Paralympic athletes.

That's not all -- a real Olympic torch will be on-hand for pictures, and fans of the up-and-coming sport archery will be able to learn from the pros of the Chula Vista Olympic Training Center.

Kids will also have a chance to play at the Kids Zone presented by the YMCA, where they can try Olympic Summer Games sports such as rugby, field hockey, soccer and gymnastics.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. on July 27 aboard the USS Midway Museum on 910 N. Harbor Dr.
