Here are the facts.

A ceremony is scheduled at the Los Angeles Police Academy Athletic Field for a stamp that honors the TV show "Dragnet."

The stamp's first day of sale is Tuesday, more than 50 years after "Dragnet" first aired. The program was based on the cases of LAPD detective Sgt. Joe Friday and his partners.

At 2 p.m., the event will be open to "Dragnet" fans and stamp collectors.

Guests include LAPD Chief William Bratton, who announced his resignation last week, Councilmember Tom LaBonge, and Opal Webb, the suviving spouse of Jack Webb. Webb played the role of Friday in the radio and television series.

Actor Harry Morgan, who played Officer Bill Gannon in the 1960s revival of the program, also will attend the ceremony.

The stamp is part of a collection to honor early TV. Other shows featured in the release include, "The Ed Sullivan Show", "Lassie," "The Lone Ranger," "The Tonight Show," and "The Twilight Zone."
