"Paul Newman, Los Angeles, 1961" is one of the photographs featured in the exhibit "Icons of the 50's and 60's: The Historic Black & White Photography of Leigh Wiener," Jan. 13 to April 12.

A photography legend's pictures are being showcased in a gallery show in Solana Beach.

Leigh Wiener's work was among the best in the '50s, '60s and'70s, and the North County Times talked to his son, Devik Wiener, about his father's work.

"It's fun to share his work with people," Devik said. "I love it when friends say, 'I've seen that photograph a hundred times ---- I didn't know your father took that!' I think his work is an important snapshot of very intimate portraits from the latter half of the 20th century."

Wiener's father shot some of the biggest cultural stars of his time in photos that have now become iconic.
