Aztecs Join 20-Win Club Again

SDSU beats Colorado State to take 1st place in the MWC

Another year, another 20-win season. Rinse and repeat.

San Diego State’s men’s basketball team beat Colorado State 72-63 at Viejas Arena on Saturday night, giving them 10 straight seasons with at least 20 wins. Between 1921 and 2005, the Aztecs basketball program had a TOTAL of 10 seasons with at least 20 wins.

Steve Fisher is the best thing to happen to San Diego State University since Rubios.

The Aztecs got 19 points and 11 rebounds from Winston Shepard and 18 points from J.J. O’Brien to beat the Rams. SDSU has now won 29 straight games on Montezuma Mesa.

Center Skylar Spencer had six blocks for the Aztecs, who have now won 139 straight games when they lead with five minutes to play.

O’Brien scored 11 of his points during an 18-6 Aztecs run at the end of the first half. With the win, SDSU takes a one-game lead in the Mountain West Conference with five games to play. Up next, a trip to The Pit in New Mexico to face the Lobos on Tuesday night.
