3 Chargers Set for Pro Bowl

There are worse consolation prizes than a trip to Hawaii.

Four weeks after an anticlimactic season finale win in Denver, three Chargers players will compete Sunday in the 2011 NFL Pro Bowl at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii. The game kicks off at 4 p.m. PST.

Left guard Kris Dielman, quarterback Philip Rivers and outside linebacker Shaun Phillips will all see action. Dielman and Rivers are both starters.

Rivers is making his first Pro Bowl appearance despite being a three-time selection. He missed his first two Pro Bowls due to injury and family reasons. He threw for an NFL-best and career-high 4,710 yards with 30 touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

Dielman has been selected to four consecutive Pro Bowls, making the 2003 undrafted rookie no stranger to the island. Phillips, a first-time selection, is.

Phillips earned his first nod in the seventh season of his career. He totaled 55 tackles, an interception returned for a touchdown, and 11 sacks, his most since registering a career-high 11.5 in 2006-2007.

Phillips is the lone representative from the NFL's No. 1 defense.
