A 23-year-old who died Thursday when her car drifted off State Route 56, overturned and tumbled down an ice plant-covered embankment has been identified, according to the Medical Examiner’s office.

Jacquline Rose O'Day, 23, was active duty in the United States Army. She was dressed in military-style fatigues and boots when she crashed.

The crash was reported at 5:46 a.m. on the westbound side of the freeway near Camino del Sur, according to the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle was found by a passersby who called 911.
