Woman Attacked by Pit Bull

    A woman is recovering in the hospital after being attacked by a pit bull early Monday morning.

    The woman was bit by the dog around 2 a.m. on the 2000 block of Highview Lane in Spring Valley.

    The sheriff's department says the woman was visiting a friend in the area when she was attacked by a pit bull inside the home.

    The woman's wounds were severe, but are non-life threatening and she is now being treated at Scripps Mercy Hospital.

    Animal Control took custody of the dog and is currently handling the investigation.
