Tourists Crash San Diego on Cruise Ships

The region is in store for a bit of an expected economic boost, as three cruise ships pulled into port Thursday.

Holland America's Westerdam, Zuiderdam and Princess Cruises' Star Princess docked around 6:30 Thursday morning, unloading thousands of tourists ready and eager to take San Diego by storm.

That means more customers for local businesses, including restaurants, shops and museums.

Three additional ships are scheduled to arrive Friday morning.

The port district estimates the combined economic impact of the six cruise ship visits at about $8 million.
