Residents in mountain areas just south of the San Diego-Riverside county line experienced a series of small earthquakes early Sunday morning.

A magnitude 3.5 quake began at about 6:10 a.m., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake’s epicenter was seven miles south-southeast of Anza, or about 10 miles north-northeast of Mount Palomar.

At about 6:18 a.m., a magnitude 2.5 earthquake rattled the same area, the USGS reported.
