Fire crews from Poway and San Diego have extinguished a brush fire that started around 3 p.m. on Monday.

The fire, at Midland Road and Twin Peaks Road, burned in heavy brush up a hill, covering about 3/4 of an acre. Smoke is still visible from a distance, but appears to be under control. There are homes at the top of the hill.

Police are cleaning up the scene. No injuries or evacuations have been reported.

A smaller brush fire is burning in Santee, near Highway 52 and Mast Road. Fire crews are on the scene.
