Miracle League Gets Halloween Spirit

The Miracle League of San Diego celebrated Halloween with bats – baseball bats that is. Players dressed up in their favorite costume and got a chance to play with some old pros in Del Mar Saturday.

Former Padre Trevor Hoffman pitched for the Halloween game.

“What great energy,” Hoffman told NBC7. “I think the fact that the kids look forward so much to being able to come out here and play and be a part of the game of baseball and then you add in Halloween and they get to be able to put their costumes on. It's just great to be able to come out here.”

Other former padres like Mark Kotsay, Mark Sweeney, and Mark Loretta also played in the game.

The Miracle League, now in its tenth season, gives kids with special needs the chance to participate in organized baseball. Each game is two innings and every child gets to play.

The league relies heavily on volunteers and donations.
