Man Hospitalized After Stabbing in Midway

Incident occured in the 3000 block of Midway Drive

A man in his 20's had to be hospitalized after being stabbed outside a Midway liquor store Friday evening, according to San Diego police.

The victim was said to be inside a store located in the 3000 block of Midway while his girlfriend waited outside at about 9:30 p.m.

As the victim's girlfriend waited, a 23-year-old man approached her while swinging a bicycle chain, said Officer David Stafford with SDPD.

The suspect claimed he was waiting for the victim and once the man walked out of the store the suspect confronted him, Stafford said.

An argument ensued and the suspect produced a knife and stabbed the victim in the abdomen, according to Stafford.

The victim was later taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive his injuries.

The suspect was arrested some time later for assault with a deadly weapon. He was booked into San Diego County Jail as an investigation into the incident continues.
