Highway Memorials Approved for King and Dubois

King and Dubois were both kidnapped, sexually assaulted and murdered by John Gardner

The California State Legislature has approved two memorials in honor of slain San Diego teenagers Chelsea King and Amber Dubois, who were sexually assaulted and murdered after being kidnapped.

Interstate 15 over Lake Hodges will be named after King, while a stretch of State Route 78 near the San Diego Zoo Safari Park will be named after Dubois.

King's memorial will be dubbed the Chelsea King Memorial Bridge. Dubois' memorial wil be named Amber Dubois Memorial Highway.

John Gardner was found guilty of killing King, a Poway High School senior, in 2010.

He also confessed to killing Dubois and hiding her body a year earlier. Dubois, 14, went missing in February 2009. Her remains were found in March 2010.
