Escondido DMV Office to Close Its Doors

The office will close for good until a new site can be acquired, which could take about nine months

The DMV field office in Escondido will permanently close its doors on May 10, the California Department of Motor Vehicles has confirmed.

The California DMV says this particular field office, which is located at 725 N. Escondido Blvd., will close for good until a new space for a new office can be acquired in Escondido. That transition is expected to take at least nine months.

Until then, the California DMV says three nearby DMV offices will open an hour earlier every day beginning May 1 to accommodate local customers.

Those three offices include the Oceanside DMV on Plaza Drive, approximately 14 miles away; the Poway DMV on Community Road, about 15 miles away; and the Temecula DMV on Diaz Road, about 30 miles away.

The Oceanside, Poway and Temecula field office hours will be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., while the Escondido office is closed.
