Escondido Police arrested a 24-year-old man on sex charges after finding the suspect in a bedroom with a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing.
A 24-year-old man is now in custody on sex charges after police found him with a 12-year-old girl who had been reported missing in Escondido.
Authorities said the girl’s mother called Escondido police Sunday around 2:10 p.m. to report that her daughter was missing and was last seen at their family residence a few hours prior.
Police began searching for the girl, calling her friends and checking her cell phone records in various attempts to locate her.
Officers learned the missing girl might be with a 24-year-old man in San Dimas, Calif.
Following an investigative lead, police were able to locate the juvenile in the bedroom of a house on the 1000 block of Nightingale Place.
In the bedroom with the girl police also found 24-year-old Christopher Bradley Nutt, a man who had recently moved to Escondido from San Dimas, authorities said.
Nutt was arrested on suspected sex charges and the juvenile was reunited with her parents.
According to investigators, the 12-year-old met the suspect through an online social network.
Police said Nutt faces several sex charges including five incidents of intercourse with a minor, sodomy with a child under 14 and sexual exploitation of a child, among other charges.
