Car Slams Into Donut Shop

The collision happened at a Winchell’s Donut Shop Saturday just past noon

A female driver accidentally slammed into a donut shop at the corner of North Harbor Drive and Rosecrans Street on Saturday, causing some damage.

Authorities said the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. at a Winchell’s Donut shop.

The driver – who was alone in her car – mistook the gas pedal for the brake and slammed into the front door of the shop.

The collision resulted in damage to the front door of the business and a broken window. The vehicle also knocked a cappuccino cart about 12-feet into the store.

Authorities said no injuries were reported. The name of the driver was not released.

The manager of the donut shop told NBC 7 San Diego that there were no customers inside the store at the time of the accident. She said the shop is still currently open for business, as no kitchen equipment was damaged in the collision.

The manager said she hopes to have the damages to her store repaired by Monday.
