A man accused of throwing acid on a woman’s face pleaded not guilty in court Wednesday afternoon.

Arturo Reyes, 55, allegedly threw sulfuric acid on a woman who was walking into a Golden Hill Laundromat on Sept. 23.

The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for second degree burns on her face, arms and back.

Police said the attack appeared to be random.

Reyes will appear in court again on Oct. 5 for a readiness hearing. He's charged with aggravated mayhem, assault with a caustic chemical, vandalism and being under the influence of a controlled substance.
