A pick-up truck crashed into a home in Mira Mesa, severing a gas line early Tuesday morning.

The fire department says a woman passed out while at the wheel. The truck swerved off the street and barreled through a fence coming to a stop against the chimney and the home's gas meter.

Emergency crews evacuated several homes in the 11000-block of Polaris Dr.

Firefighters were unable to shut off the gas line and had to wait for emergency crews from SDG&E to shut off the gas.

One person was injured and transported to a local hospital.
