A 2-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car in Oceanside.

According to police, the toddler was hit by a Toyota Tundra truck in an alley in the 400 block of North Horne Street Friday around 6 p.m.

Investigators said the 55-year-old driver of the truck, who's a resident of Fallbrook, had driven several feet from a parked position when the collision happened.

The boy was transported to Rady Children’s Hospital. A short time later, he succumbed to his fatal injuries, police said.

Alcohol was not a factor in the accident, according to investigators. No arrests were made.

The investigation is ongoing. The names of the toddler or driver have not yet been released.

Detailed information was not immediately available as to why the child was in the alley at the time of the deadly collision.
