Gunmen Stole Weapons from Sport Store: Cops

Suspects approached Big 5 employees as they were unloading truck

Three masked gunmen robbed a sporting goods store in Oceanside Monday morning, taking firearms and knives, police said.

The suspects approached four employees unloading a delivery truck in the back of a Big 5 Sporting Goods store on Vista Way at about 5:20 a.m., according to a police report.

One of the suspects held up an assault rifle as the other two suspects forced the employees into the store’s restroom and barricaded them inside.

The suspects stole the knives, shotguns and rifles and fled the scene.

The manager found the employees in the bathroom when he arrived about 40 minutes later and called the police.

The employees were not injured, and the suspects are still outstanding, police said later Monday evening.
