An 11-year-old pedestrian was struck and seriously injured by a car in Chollas View Wednesday morning, police confirmed.

Officials said a 1995 Nissan was traveling westbound in the 4600 block of Market Street when a child stepped off the curb line and tried to cross the street in front of the vehicle.

The child was hit by the car and sustained abrasions and a serious head injury, police said.

The child, whose name was not released by authorities, was transported to a local trauma hospital for serious but non-life threatening wounds. His current condition is unknown.

The collision is under investigation. The driver’s name was not released.
