A mother left her child with a friend in San Bernardino so she could go to court but failed to return according to police.
The woman left the girl with the acquaintance at around noon Thursday, a San Bernardino Police Department spokesman said.
According to the friend, the mother, whose name is Lucia, said she was going to the courthouse. She had left the child on previous occasions and had always returned. The acquaintance got in touch with police around seven hours later.
The girl, known only as Veronica, is approximately 3’ tall and weighs about 40 pounds. She has brown hair and eyes, and was wearing a pink shirt with jeans.
The mother is approximately 35-years-old, around 5’5” tall, weighs 140 pounds and has black hair. She is also described as missing her front teeth. Her friend could not remember what the mother was wearing.
