The retail chain announced that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will close 120 of its underperforming stores across the nation.

Linens 'n Things announced Thursday it would begin selling its inventory at a discount starting Friday. There are three stores in San Diego county including La Jolla.
Most items will be reduced by 30 percent.
Linens 'n Things filed for bankruptcy in May and closed more than 100 stores to try and stay afloat. But the company failed to find an investor willing to keep it going.
