Move over, summer, there’s a new season in town -- the Bing Crosby Season, that is.
On Monday, the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club announced the first two shows of its annual fall concert series, affectionately titled the Bing Crosby Season. Come November, San Diegans have at least two very big reasons to hit the place where the turf meets the surf: Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals headline Nov. 12 with their beloved jam/soul/blues/rock, and Santa Barbara roots-reggae superstars Iration head up Nov. 19.
So weird -- here we are at the peak of summer, and we're already talking about November! After all, the track's summer concert series hasn't even wrapped up yet; they've still got the Wailers and Chromeo on the way! But when something this good hits your lap, sometimes you can't help but talk about it.
And honestly, there’s just no excuse to miss Ben Harper & the Innocent Criminals. If Harper’s latest album, "Call It What It Is," is any indication, we’re in store for some wickedly mind-blowing blues/soul rock jams. Dude can shred, amirite? You can count us in for that Nov. 12 show.
The good times will definitely continue with Iration. We’re lucky enough to be a regular stop on the band’s never-ending tour schedule. The last time we saw them, they had Sleep Train Amphitheatre lit up and rocking from side to side with their reggae/dub/rock sway. It was truly a beautiful sight to behold, and if you miss 'em on Nov. 19, that's on you.
And as if your whistle hadn’t been wet enough, there are more Bing Crosby Season shows on the way too. Much more. But we can’t say what they are just yet! We know, we know -- waiting is the hardest part. Details on future shows will be announced soon though, and as always, we’ll be sure you’re up to speed on all the racetrack happenings. In other words, stay tuned.
As always, entry to the shows are free with paid admission to the track. Check out Del Mar Racing's official website for more details and information.
