    Michael Lynche was eliminated.

‪"American Idol" inched a little bit closer to the season finale, as the show got down to the final three after eliminating another contender from the competition.

Michael Lynche, the man who got the judges' save five weeks ago and who spent several weeks this season in the bottom three, was finally given the boot from the competition on Wednesday night.

The personal trainer, who became a first-time dad during the audition round of "Idol's" Season 9, said that appearing on the show had been the ride of his life.

"It's been unbelievable man… I just sit here right now and I think, 'I wasn't even supposed to be here,'" he said after learning the news. "Thank God for the judges [saving] me, the people, performing for my wife. You know, it's all good man."

Crystal Bowersox joined Michael in the bottom group, although show host Ryan Seacrest never clarified if the seemingly popular dreadlocked blonde was the second lowest vote getter. Earlier in the night, when Ryan began promoting contestants to the semifinal round, he said the results were in no particular order.

In fact, Casey James, who was in the bottom three last week (alongside Michael and Aaron Kelly, the latter of which who eventually went home), was the first contender told he made it through to next week. Lee DeWyze was second to get the good news.

Before singing one last time – Michael Jackson's "Will You Be There" from "Free Willy"-- "Big Mike" was given some advice by judge Kara DioGuardi.

"Do not stop. Keep going, write great songs, record great songs and above all, go out and sing your heart out every night. Keep gigging because you've got it in you," she said.
