Note to celebrities: be careful when snubbing a fan who asks for your autograph, because they might become famous one day and talk about it in interviews.

Before Hailee Steinfeld was the breakout teen star on "True Grit," she was hurt by some diva-like behavior from "Glee" star Lea Michele.

"When I was auditioning for 'True Grit,' I was on the Paramount lot," Steinfeld recounted to teeny-bopper mag, J-14. "I was wearing clothes from the 1800s that were big and uncomfortable. 'Glee' also films on the lot and I love the show, but I haven't really followed it. I saw Lea Michele just walking to her trailer and I was like, 'That's the girl from 'Glee.' I've got to go ask for her autograph!'"

If wearing a 19th century costume in the middle of a parking-lot wasn't embarrassing enough, now 14-year-old Steinfeld faced rejection.

"So I walked up to her and asked for her autograph, but she walked by and a guy came and said, 'Sorry, now's not a good time!' So I had to walk all the way back to the car wearing what I was wearing."

The whole incident got the young actress teary-eyed.

"I was practically crying on the way home. I was so sad! But she's beautiful and has an amazing voice," Steinfeld added.

The rising star has since seen better days. Steinfeld's portrayal of Mattie Ross, a young girl who hires a drunken and decrepit bounty hunter to hunt down her father's murderer in the Coen Brothers' remake of "True Grit" got her nominated for a Critics Choice Award and other awards. Her A-list co-star, Matt Damon, said he was "blown away" by her performance.
