Jay-Z & Beyonce's Date Night: Pizza In Brooklyn

Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has kept his marriage to Beyonce Knowles private, but the star opened up – at least about date night! — in a new interview with Oprah Winfrey in the October issue of O, The Oprah Magazine.

"I'm gonna get killed for this, but I'll tell you anyway," Jay-Z revealed. "There's a great pizza spot we go to every Sunday. It's our tradition. It's a small place in Brooklyn, you can bring your own wine, and there are candles there. It's a nice date."

Still, the star – who will drop his latest album, "The Blueprint 3," on September 11 – said there are some things he likes to keep private.

"When you're a public person, you have to keep some things to yourself," he said, explaining that he and Beyonce have agreed not to talk about each other in the press.

But their secret wedding, he admitted, wasn't a success with everyone.

"Very few [people knew]," he said. "The sad part is that we offended some. But people who love you understand. Because at the end of the day, it's your day."

The rapper also spoke out about his tumultuous childhood in the Marcy Houses project in Brooklyn's Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood, where by the age of 13, he was dealing drugs.

"It was natural," he said, explaining that there were no positive influences, such as a doctor or lawyer, in the neighborhood. "It was normal. If anyone made it, you never knew it. They never came back to share the wisdom of how they made it."

In that dangerous environment, the future star survived a confrontation that found him being shot at three times.

"That was divine intervention. Divine intervention, and nobody knowing how to shoot," he said.

Now one of the most successful rappers and businessmen in the hip-hop community, Jay-Z said he's done his best to give back.

"That's why I've always said that if I became successful, I'd come back here, grab somebody, and show him how it can be done," he said.
