Brad Pitt Gets Awkward With Zach Galifianakis on “Between Two Ferns”

Zach Galifianakis is comfortable with the uncomfortable.

The actor interviewed Brad Pitt for his Emmy Award-winning Funny or Die web series "Between Two Ferns." While Pitt waited to start, an in-character Galifianakis rudely spoke to someone off camera. "I'm just saying that I interviewed the president last time, and now I'm going to go back to interviewing dumb actors," he whispered as Pitt pretended not to listen. "It's all I'm saying! It's fine! It's fine! He's a big star."

After the interview began, it only got worse. Check out clip above. (Warning: Profanity is used toward the end of the segment.)

Calling the "Fury" star "Bradley Pitts" as "Bart Pit, '12 Years a Salve'" appeared on the chyron, the amiable actor didn't correct Galifianakis. Instead, the 50-year-old celebrity said it was his "pleasure" to be there.

"How old were you when you lost your virginity, 0?" Galifianakis asked. Pitt doesn't answer, so the "Birdman" star offered to share his own story. "I'd...really not like to hear that," Pitt politely told him.

Galifianakis also poked fun at Pitt's appearance saying, "You play a lot of people that are kind of Nazi haters, which is weird to me." Pitt asked him to explain, and the "Hangover" actor replied, "Because you look like Hitler's dream." Pitt nodded his head and said, "Yes, I understand the conundrum of it all."

The awkwardness didn't end there. Galifianakis gave him a wrapped gift that Pitt assumed to be a bong. "You know I'm a dad now," the father of six said. "That's a bassoon," Galifianakis said before handing him a wrapped lighter. "We don't bassoon in my house anymore," Pitt said of no longer smoking weed.

Later, when Galifianakis asked to borrow Pitt's sperm, he was rebuffed.

While Pitt was in the midst of discussing his charity work, Galifianakis interrupted him to introduce comic Louis C.K. Blocking Pitt from view, he made jokes about Ebola and ISIS. "He looks like the reverse Benjamin Button, doesn't he?" Galifianakis asked Pitt of his 2008 character. "Because he gets older."

The comedian eventually walked off set and the interview resumed.

Galifianakis appeared seriously bummed when Pitt explained that he "never" gets dressed up in tuxedos with George Clooney, where they'd "look at each other and say, 'Aren't we a couple of Dapper Dans?'"

"Is it hard for you to maintain a suntan...because you live in your wife's shadow?" Galifianakis asked Angelina Jolie's husband of two months. "Because, I too, I had a romantic fling that was public and it got on my nerves. And because she kind of outshined me. I had the same thing with [Condoleezza Rice]."

"Tell me what I was like the first time that you laid eyes on Angelina. Was it like one of those classical love stories, like when, I don't know, Ross first saw Rachel? You know that show, 'Friends'? Have you seen it?" he asked, referring to the hit NBC sitcom that starred Pitt's first wife, Jennifer Aniston. Though Pitt guest-starred in an episode of the series, he declined to answer–so Galifianakis played its theme song.

"I like that song," Pitt said of The Rembrandt's "I'll Be There for You."

Coincidentally, Aniston didn't laugh at Galifianakis' idea to use a Pitt look-alike appear in a 2011 "Between Two Ferns" episode with Tila Tequila. "I had found this guy [in our hotel] who looked exactly like Brad Pitt. I wanted to use that in some way," Galifianakis explained at the New Yorker Festival three years ago. "I said, 'Jennifer, I have this guy who looks like Brad Pitt. I want to make it seem like I think it's him.' She looked at me like, 'What the f--k?' And I totally agreed with her. How rude of me to do that! Why would she want to talk about that? She gets inundated with that s--t all the time. I totally understood."
