Ryan Gosling “Embarrassed” By Street Fight Heroics

A few weeks ago, Ryan Gosling became a quick internet sensation when an amateur video showing the "Crazy Stupid Love" star breaking up a street fight in New York City quickly went viral.

In a new interview with MTV, Gosling calls the entire incident a mistake, and quickly downplays any notion of him being some kind of Good Samaritan hero.

"I'm embarrassed. I should have just kept my nose out of it," says Gosling. The actor found out after the incident that the man being attacked had allegedly stolen a painting and was being confronted by the robbed artist.

"Which means the guy was a fan, and so he wanted the painting so bad he had to steal it because he couldn't afford it," says Gosling. "So he finally steals the painting and he's getting his ass kicked by his hero, and then the guy from 'The Notebook' shows up and makes it weirder. The whole thing, nobody wins. Nobody won."

Gosling will next be seen in the gritty crime drama "Drive," playing a getaway car driver for hire who  ends up in over his head.
