Robert Pattinson may have the world at his feet thanks to "The Twilight Saga" and his fabulous hair, but the star told the March issue of Details that the best day of his life had nothing to do with stardom.

"So this big female started sniffing my foot — big female elephant, that is," he said of a meeting in California, where he encountered the animal, during negotiations to star in the circus film "Water For Elephants." "She sniffed it so hard it came up off the pavement like her trunk was a vacuum cleaner. Then she took my entire body in her mouth. I was holding on to her head, and as I slowly let go she tightened her grip really carefully until I'm just upside down in her mouth and she's going through my pockets with her trunk, looking for peppermints. It was the best day of my life."

And while Robert may enjoy his animal encounters, he told the mag that doing a photo shoot with a number of naked women wasn't his cup of tea.

"I can't say I had no idea, because it was a 12-hour shoot, so you kind of get the picture that these women are going to stay naked after, like, five or six hours," he said. "But I wasn't exactly prepared. I had no idea what to say to these girls. Thank God I was hungover."

Though the actor has been heavily rumored to be dating "Twilight Saga" co-star Kristen Stewart, he added that it was another animal that has his love.

"The only emotional connection of relevance is with my dog," Robert said. "My relationship with my dog, it's ridiculous."

Nevertheless, there's one surprising element of human connection he enjoys – political speechmaking.

"It's fascinating. You'd have two or three minutes to affect someone. Make them hear you," he said. "I quite enjoyed doing press for the first 'Twilight,' because there was a similarity… I felt a responsibility to be fascinating. You're bargaining with the audience. Is this enough for them? And that affects the way you look at art."

Up next for the star is "Remember Me," due March 12, and the third "Twilight Saga" film, "Eclipse," due June 30.
