There are few musicians who have embraced social media like Imogen Heap. Her fans are allowed an intimate glimpse in the Grammy winning artist's life through her active networking on Facebook and Twitter.
It's not unusual to find a tweet that invites fans to watch the musician live on UStream as she works out new songs. This works to her credit and detriment it may seem, as critics have no qualms with characterizations of the artist as being pretentious or self-aggrandizing, that perhaps her expectations of a life in music exceed both the musician's talents and the taste of the general populace.
For the fans that do appreciate her music, from her time leading Garden State soundtrack band Frou Frou to her Grammy nod, her performances are truly fascinating, as she has mastered looping and sampling her own voice on the fly to create her own backing band.
