Music fans were recently disappointed to learn that the Casbah stage at FM 94/9's Independence Jam (9/16) was canceled. However, three of the bands lined up to perform -- Father John Misty, Pinback and Mrs. Magician -- were also scheduled to perform at the San Diego Music Thing. Granted, Father John Misty and Pinback are basically going head-to-head on Saturday, and the presale tickets are sold out, so you have to have a San Diego Music Thing wristband to get in, but both shows are sure to be worth your while. If you don't want to commit to one venue, there are great shows all over town that can be attended with a nominal cover charge at the door or a simple flash of your badge. This is a heavenly weekend for music in San Diego, I hope you enjoy it to its fullest.
