A couple of month's ago, the guys in Transfer invited me out to check out their new recording studio, White Horse Recorders. The space is amazing, and while we were taking a little tour, we only got a few minutes in the main room because it was being used by none other than Portugal. The Man, who were recording in the space for a few weeks. They were kind but focused, and we didn't want to impede their process, so we were on our way pretty quickly. I assume they were laying down tracks for their Atlantic debut, which will drop in 2011, though they're already known for a prolific recording and touring career. Their experimental music has earned them a loyal following, and I suspect tonight's show might be a road test for much of their new material.
There are a handful of music and art events tonight, as well as a kickoff to some Halloween-oriented parties and shows, so check out this list good and hard because you might find two or three events that will have you making the rounds.
