Rachael Yamagata performs at the Tribeca ASCAP Music Lounge held at the Canal Room during the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival on May 2, 2008, in New York City.
There are some nights of the year worth looking forward to, but in my experience, none quite compare to the eve of Thanksgiving. Everyone seems to walk to their local watering holes or venture to the spots where they'll find friends from their past, but you can still get out and catch some live music, too.
My bets are on Rachael Yamagata over at Anthology. Since self-releasing her latest record, she's been a road warrior, performing in San Diego at least one other time this year (perhaps twice if my memory serves me right) and she is always a delight to catch live as her feisty side certainly shines through.
You might also prefer an early show featuring Low Volts over at Voyeur. Their soundsystem is nationally recognized for being one of the top in the country, but it's rare that it's used for live rock & roll instead of DJs, so that is a cool option for your evening.
Cash'd Out, Lady Dottie and Pacific are some other top-notch choices for the night to get you ready for a day of lounging in your stretchy pants as you give thanks for all of the goodness we experience everyday.
Wednesday, Nov. 21:
