I have never seen Crystal Stilts, but if their performance is as loud as their buzz, then I'd guess tonight's show at the Casbah is going to be a winner. The Brooklyn, N.Y., band does their own brand of shimmering noise pop, and openers Young Prisms and Ghost Shores should really secure this as the show of the week for the hipsters. Up at the Soda Bar, Cloudland Canyon, to me, sounds like they should be an alt-country or a bluegrass band, but these psych-zouk-rockers are anything but, but with most of their songs coming in at about eight minutes, I suspect live those will hit the 11- to 15-minute mark. Lastly, my friends Beta Lion haven't played in some time, so if you're just looking for a good night of simple indie-pop, grab your coozie and hang at Tin Can tonight.
