I really don't want to rub it in, but there are a couple hundred lucky people who bought tickets to Pinback tonight at the Casbah. I can always tell how beloved a band is based on how many friends come out of the woodwork, texting me to see if I have a ticket hookup. Pinback has played and sold out much larger venues than the Casbah, but every year or two, they come back just like the old days. This is obviously the show of the night, but the good news is that it isn't the only one in town on Monday. At the Soda Bar, Australian songstress Kate Miller-Heidke returns to San Diego. If you haven't seen her live, you'll love her quirky energy and dramatic vocal range. Miller-Heidke's latest album, Nightflight, won't be released until June 19 in the States, but you can expect that she'll perform the new material, which is said to be more hushed and more stark than her double-platinum Curiouser. Even with unknown material, you can't go wrong with Kate.
