Mix Master Mike will be at the Ivy on Thursday.

Thanksgiving is right around the corner, and I, for one, will be doing extra cardio before and after to lessen the guilt. Don’t even get me started on the leftovers. So, let’s get a head-start this weekend and dance our turkeys off!

Thursday is proving to be a stellar night for shows and dance events. One of my picks is Mord Fustang and Miles Dyson at Voyeur. Get your details here. Also, Mixmaster Mike will be doing a special guest performance at the Ivy Nightclub at Andaz. Bring a canned food item to donate, and it’s free to get in before 10:30 p.m.. More info here.

Friday night, Voyeur is one of the places to be, with Thomas Gold and TJR. RSVP to get on the no-cover-before-10:30 p.m. list here. Just down the street at Fluxx, it’s their Sweet Shoppe Launch Party with DJ Cobra and Ricky Rocks live on the drums. Satisfy your sweet tooth with the cupcake bar and cotton-candy machine. And at U-31, it’s Feel the Noise, with Willy Joy (Trouble and Bass, Chicago), plus resident DJ Gabe Vega.

Saturday night I’ll be heading to see VNV Nation at House Of Blues downtown. It’s the first show of the tour; their visas were delayed and the band had to postpone their Los Angeles and Phoenix dates. Lucky for us here in San Diego, they got everything squared away and will be making their way to the States on Friday in time for the show Saturday. Straftanz will be opening, so get there early. Over at U-31, two of my favorite ladies are DJing: Tina T and Ayla Simone will provide the soundtrack to the relaunch party of Mahfia.com, and this means you’ll definitely have a great time. For more info, check out this link. And once again, Voyeur has a great night planned for you with D.Ramirez and Audrey Napoleon.

A fun weekend is ahead. Check out more info via my blog and I’ll see you on the dance floor!

Robin Roth is a familiar voice in the San Diego scene.  She is on the air weekdays from 10am to 2pm on 91X, plus she promotes and spins all over town.  For more info about upcoming gigs, check out her event blog. Follow Robin on Twitter @robin_roth or submit your DJ listings here.
