Instagram: Post New Year's Eve Photos to the World
Updated at 1:25 PM PST on Monday, Dec 31, 2012
Facebook's Instagram launched a New Year’s Eve website where users can upload their photos and garner looks at everyone else's New Year's celebrations across the world.
People can go to the site and navigate through the time zones to spy on photos from Tokyo, Kathmandu or Tehran, as well as favorite or comment on them, according to the Next Web.
The odd part we found was there was no common hashtag on many of them, so photos can be of last week's laundry
or Christmas celebrations
, basically whatever you post on midnight in your timezone. The later timezones, however, seem to be using #2013.
The website is new for the young photo-sharing app now owned by Facebook. There is some talk that this kind of curated display may be used more often. Think of all the times you could use a designed slideshow of images? It would be a desirable feature if it could be done on a personal level as well as one curated around timely events.
