Comic-Con 2010 Is Upon Us!

The Geek Gods are descending on San Diego to hold court for four days while their minions hang on their every word. That's right, it's time for Comic-Con 2010. Sadly, we can't join the fun, but here's a few of the highlights on Thursday's schedule that we'll be keeping tabs on:

10:00-11:00 "Megamind": Stars Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, and Jonah Hill and director Tom McGrath will talk and unveil footage from the upcoming animated film about the ultimate battle of Good vs. Evil, which comes out Nov. 5. We were a little disappointed by the trailer, hopefully they'll up the ante.

10:30-11:30 TheOneRing.net Talks "The Hobbit" movies: Chris Pirrotta, Cliff Broadway, and Larry D. Curtis, staff members from the only Tolkien blog that matters. Special guests are possible, "Hobbit" movie news is all but guaranteed.

11:15-12:45 "TRON: Legacy": A special insider look at the upcoming epic, with a panel that includes director Joe Kosinski, and stars Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen and Bruce Boxleitner. Exclusive peaks of the film, a Q&A, and a special surprise guests are on the menu. Didn't care much for the original, but what we've seen of this one has us giddy with anticipation.

12:00-1:00 "Caprica," "Battlestar," and Beyond: Hosted by actor/author Richard Hatch (Tom Zarek, Capt. Apollo, So Say We All), this panel features producer/writer Michael Tayler (Battlestar, Caprica, Star Trek), science consultant Kevin Grazier (Battlestar, Eureka), and special guests. There'll be a Q&A of "Caprica," "Battlestar Galactica" and the upcoming "BSG" movie, including trailers.

1:00-2:00 "Battle: Los Angeles" and "Salt": A showcase for two films at once, first "Battle: Los Angeles" stars Michelle Rodriguez, Aaron Eckhart, Neal Moritz, and director Jonathan Liebesman will be on hand to discuss their movie about Marines trying to stave off an alien invasion. Then, a day ahead of the release of "Salt," some special guests will be on hand to unveil a sneak peak. We caught a screening on Tuesday and were pleasantly surprised (here's the trailer if you've missed it), our full review will be up on Friday.

3:30-4:30 Entertainment Weekly: The Visionaries: A discussion with uber geek J. J. Abrams ("Star Trek") and Joss Whedon ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") on the future of pop culture. With the number of projects these two are involved in, one has to imagine there'll some news about something cool, maybe "Super 8," (check the trailer, it's pretty great) maybe "The Avengers." Fingers crossed...

4:45-5:45 "The Expendables": Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Steve Austin, Randy Couture and Terry Crews will be on hand to present exclusive scenes and the inside scoop on the summer's biggest testosterone festival. That trailer is ridiculous, by the way.

5:00-6:00 "Children's Hospital": The show's creative team led by Rob Corddry, Jon Stern and David Wain, along with cast members  Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes and Rob Huebel, discuss their show about horny doctors who occasionally find time to care for kids. This show just got brought back from the dead and looks to be pretty funny -- we're all in favor of Corddry and Wain having a platform to share their comedic gifts.

6:00-7:00 "Dexter": Stars Michael C. Hall, Jennifer Carpenter, Desmond Harrington will be on hand to discuss the future of America's favorite serial killer and unveil the trailer for the new season.

6:00-7:00 "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World": Director Edgar Wright, "Scott Pilgrim" creator Bryan Lee O'Malley, and the cast, including stars Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, will be talking about one of the summer's next big thing. We're suffering from a bit of Pilgrim fatigue, but the trailer looks great and we're eager to see it.

7:30-8:30 "Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog": A sing-along screening of the brilliant web musical written by Joss Whedon and starring Neil Patrick Harris, Nathan Fillion and Felicia Day. If you've never seen this, it's time.

10:00-12:00 World Premiere of "Lost Boys: The Thirst": Original cast members Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander present the third film in the saga. It just doesn't feel right now that the other Corey is gone.

But of course the highlight of all Comic-Cons in the Internet Era is the gratuitous gallery of young women dressed in all manner of nerd-porn costumes.
