Hermes Opens in Fashion Valley

Hermes Paris officially opens Tuesday in Fashion Valley bringing yet another luxury boutique to the growing number now available to shoppers in Mission Valley.

Along with its San Diego store, Hermes is seeing its largest growth in the U.S. with openings planned in Denver and NYC as well.

President and CEO Robert Chavez spoke about the recession, its impact on fashion and the company’s decision to continue expanding its stores in the face of the economic downturn.

Doors have been open for a few weeks and San Diegans have been picking up scarves, enamel bracelets and ties as well as handbags.

An extravagant private celebration is planned Tuesday night involving company executives and a few lucky San Diegans who nabbed an invite. One of those attending is Guillaume de Seynes, an Hermes family member and Director of Hermes International. The theme will be “Passage to India” with cushions made out of Hermes silk scarves.

This Friday, December 5, the store will contribute a percentage of the proceeds from all purchases to the Museum of Contemporary Art of San Diego.

“Hermes has always had a great appreciation for the arts and we love to integrate ourselves into the local community,” said Chavez. “It’s just our way of saying thank you for welcoming us.”

If you’re looking to surprise your loved one with an extravagant gift this holiday, Chavez suggested anything that comes inside the Hermes orange box would work well.
