NBC 7/39 is San Diego's only network owned and operated television station. Starting in 1977. It later became known officially as NBC 7/39 when it was acquired by NBC in October of 1997.
The station's reputation has grown along with its size. A highly rated news station, NBC7/39 has been awarded countless local Emmys, Golden Mics, and San Diego Press Club Awards. And San Diegans have long recognized NBC 7/39 as a news leader watching NBC 7/39 News in the Morning and NBC 7/39 News at 11 more than any other station in town.
After 35 years in Kearny Mesa, NBC 7/39 moved to a new downtown San Diego facility at 225 Broadway. The cornerstone is the station's street side studio adjacent to WesHorton Plaza, and much like its legendary predecessor, The Today Show, which broadcasts from a studio facing Rockerfeller Center.
