Aztecs Lose at Oregon State

Early on it looked as though the Aztecs finally might get that breakthrough win on the road against a power conference. They took the opening kickoff and eight plays later they were in the end zone. The 75-yard drive was capped off by a Donnel Pumphrey touchdown run. He finished with one score and 89 rushing yards.

Oregon State answered with a pair of touchdowns and led 14-7 at halftime and went on to win it 28-7.

In the second half the Beavers scored twice on long drives that ended in short touchdown runs. Sean Mannion, the heralded Oregon State quarterback threw for 275-yards but no touchdowns and one interception.

San Diego State quarterback Quinn Kaehler was 14-of26 for just 106-yards and two picks.

The Aztecs open conference play next Saturday when they host UNLV.
