Padres Drop Opener to Dodgers

It was all too familiar for the Padres and their fans: No run support for Jake Peavy, and a loss to the Dodgers on opening day.

The Dodgers scored two in the first on a single by James Loney. They also scored an unearned run in the third. Matt Kemp's solo home run in the seventh was added, but not needed, insurance.

The Padres had bases loaded in the sixth, but Kevin Kouzmanoff popped out to end the inning. He left two more on base in the eighth.

"We just couldn't get anything generated offensively," Padres manager Bud Black saod.

Hiroki Kuroda worked almost six innings and combined with three relievers to shut down the Padres.
