USD men's basketball team gets 1st conference win over Pacific

USD men's basketball coach Sam Scholl knew he had a good, experience, senior-leaden team to work with for his first season as head coach. So far the club might even be exceeding expectations.

After an 11-win non-conference schedule the Toreros got their first West Coast Conference win of the year with a 73-64 victory over Pacific at Jenny Craig Pavilion. The biggest difference in the game was something you learn in kindergarten:

San Diego shared better.

The Toreros handed out 18 assists to the Tigers five. In fact seven different players assisted on a basket and eight different guys scored. Isaiah Pineiro and Olin Carter III tied with four helpers each. They were also the two leading scorers. Pineiro had 24 points while Carter had 15.

USD runs its record to 12-5. They host Pepperdine on Saturday, January 12, at 1:00 p.m.
