Local kids get to put new turf to the test as a new baseball park opens in Lakeside.
Young ballplayers from the Lakeside National Little League helped design the $8.5 million park, and they will put the field to the test during baseball tryouts scheduled after a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. at 10030 Marathon Parkway.
The Lakeside Baseball Park has four baseball fields with synthetic turf, batting cages, a playground, concession area and restrooms.
