One of two suspects in a deadly shooting near the Vista Transit Center in early November has been arrested, deputies confirmed.
The sheriff's department said 20-year-old Jonathan Ruiz of Vista was shot and killed Nov. 4 at around 2:30 p.m. at the corner of Olive Avenue and Goetting Way.
SDSO Lt. Richard Williams said Ruiz was walking up a path by the Vista Manor mobile home park when two men came up and shot him in the upper torso.
Emergency crews performed CPR on the Ruiz and transported him to a local hospital where he died.
Witnesses told deputies they saw two men running south on Terracina Way toward Vista Village Drive away from the scene. One of the men, Issac Martinez, 19 of Oceanside, was arrested by deputies Tuesday and is being held without bail.
The other suspect was described as a male between 17 and 20 years old, Williams said.
The motive of the shooting is unknown.
