Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Pacific Beach Collision

The collision happened Monday night in the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue

A 50-year-old man walking on a busy street in Pacific Beach suffered major injuries when he was struck by a car Monday night, the San Diego Police Department (SDPD) said.

The pedestrian was crossing in a northern direction in the 2700 block of Garnet Avenue near Mission Bay Drive at around 10:15 p.m. when he walked into the path of an eastbound Toyota 4Runner being driven by a 21-year-old man.

The driver of the 4Runner struck the pedestrian, who suffered life-threatening head injuries from the impact, police said.

The driver was not injured and stayed at the scene, cooperating with police and their investigation.

The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.
