La Jolla Festival of the Arts Changes Name, Location

The La Jolla Festival of the Arts announced March 28 it will change its name to the San Diego Festival of the Arts and move into a new location for the event’s 30th anniversary.

The Waterfront Park in downtown San Diego will be the new location for the event running June 11 and 12. According to a release from the San Diego Festival of the Arts, the event is the first of its kind for Waterfront Park. The event is presented by the not-for-profit Torrey Pines Kiwanis Foundation.

“Our festival has a three-decade tradition of attracting the brightest established and emerging artists and we are thrilled to welcome such a diverse group for 2016 -- and being able to showcase that amazing talent against the backdrop of downtown's gorgeous waterfront,” said Peter Ballantyne, Torrey Pines Kiwanis Foundation president, in the release.

The event showcases painting, sculpture, photography, glass, jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber and mixed media from artists. This year, the event will also feature live music, a craft beer garden and food from San Diego restaurants.
